Woulgan

Woulgan is a bioactive wound-healing hydrogel containing 2% soluble beta-1,3/1,6-glucan (SBG) extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and formulated in a high-water hydrogel base to treat stalled or slow-healing acute and chronic wounds. The SBG component acts as an immunomodulator that activates macrophages and other innate immune cells, promoting a controlled inflammatory response, angiogenesis, fibroblast proliferation, granulation tissue formation, and wound contraction, while the hydrogel matrix maintains a moist environment, rehydrates necrotic tissue, and supports autolytic debridement. Woulgan is indicated for dry to medium-exuding partial- or full-thickness wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers of any aetiology, pressure ulcers, graft and donor sites, open surgical wounds, partial-thickness burns, abrasions, and lacerations, particularly where healing is delayed or at high risk of becoming stalled, and is used as an adjunct to standard wound care under healthcare professional supervision.
