Overview

WP-CLDN18.2-CAR-T is an autologous, ex vivo chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Waypoint Bio. It is designed to target Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein that is highly expressed in several solid tumors, including gastric, gastroesophageal (GE) junction, and pancreatic cancers, while maintaining restricted expression in healthy tissues. The therapy involves engineering a patient's own T cells to express a CAR specific to CLDN18.2, enabling the immune system to selectively identify and eliminate tumor cells. Currently in the preclinical stage, this asset leverages Waypoint Bio's proprietary platform to optimize the design and function of the CAR-T cells for improved efficacy and persistence within the solid tumor microenvironment.
