WP107 is an oral solution formulation of huperzine A, a naturally occurring sesquiterpene alkaloid that acts as a potent, reversible, and selective acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. Developed by Wanbangde, WP107 is specifically designed for the treatment of Generalized Myasthenia Gravis (gMG), particularly for patients who experience swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), a common symptom of the disease. By inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, the drug prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, thereby increasing its concentration and improving neuromuscular transmission and muscle strength. The US FDA granted WP107 Orphan Drug Designation in December 2023 and accepted its Investigational New Drug (IND) application in December 2024.
