Overview

WP1234 is a preclinical-stage small molecule inhibitor of glycolysis developed by Moleculin Biotech. It is part of the WP1122 portfolio, which was licensed from the MD Anderson Cancer Center. The drug is designed to target the metabolic requirements of cancer cells, specifically by inhibiting the glycolytic pathway, which is often upregulated in aggressive and treatment-resistant tumors (the Warburg effect). WP1234 is being investigated for the treatment of pancreatic cancer and various brain tumors, including glioblastoma. Moleculin Biotech has collaborated with the Medical University of Gdansk in Poland for its preclinical development.
