Overview

WR99210 is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the triazine class. It is primarily used as an experimental antifolate compound in research settings. The compound acts as a potent inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), particularly targeting the DHFR enzyme from Plasmodium species (malaria parasites), while showing much lower affinity for mammalian DHFR. This selectivity makes it valuable in studies of malaria drug resistance and transgenic selection systems for Plasmodium and related protozoa. It is not approved for clinical use in humans or animals and is mainly supplied for laboratory research purposes[1][4][8].
