WS204 is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Canonical 4 (TRPC4) channel. Identified through high-throughput screening, it exhibits high selectivity for TRPC4 over other members of the TRPC family, including TRPC1, TRPC3, TRPC5, and TRPC6, as well as other TRP channels such as TRPV1 and TRPM8. By blocking TRPC4-mediated calcium entry, WS204 serves as a critical pharmacological tool for investigating the physiological and pathological roles of TRPC4 in various tissues, including smooth muscle contraction, neurotransmission, and vascular function.
