Overview

WSN-OVA is a recombinant strain of the Influenza A virus (specifically the A/WSN/33 strain, H1N1) engineered to express the chicken ovalbumin (OVA) protein or its immunodominant CD8+ T cell epitope, SIINFEKL. It is a widely utilized research tool in immunology, serving as a model pathogen to study the kinetics, differentiation, and exhaustion of T cell responses in mouse models. By infecting mice with WSN-OVA, researchers can track the response of OT-I T cells (transgenic CD8+ T cells specific for the OVA epitope) to an acute viral infection.
