Overview

The WT-1 analog peptide vaccine developed by the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute is an investigational polyvalent peptide-based cancer immunotherapy. It is composed of synthetic analog peptides derived from the Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) protein, an embryonic transcription factor that is frequently overexpressed in myeloid malignancies and acts as a driver for blast proliferation. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the patient's immune system, specifically eliciting T-cell responses to target and eliminate WT1-expressing leukemia cells. In clinical settings, it is typically administered subcutaneously in combination with adjuvants such as Montanide and sargramostim (GM-CSF) to enhance its immunogenicity. The vaccine has been primarily evaluated in pilot studies for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in remission or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
