WT-iNeuts are unmodified, wild-type neutrophils derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Developed by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Morgridge Institute for Research, these cells serve as a baseline cellular platform for immunotherapy and as a control for genetically engineered variants such as CAR-iNeuts. Generated using ETV2 modified mRNA, WT-iNeuts exhibit typical neutrophil morphology and phenotype. While neutrophils naturally possess the ability to migrate into solid tumor microenvironments, WT-iNeuts are primarily utilized in preclinical research to evaluate the baseline anti-tumor activity, safety, and trafficking capabilities of iPSC-derived neutrophil products before the introduction of specific genetic modifications, such as chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) targeting antigens like GD2.
