WT1-loaded CBDC vaccine is an autologous cellular immunotherapy consisting of dendritic cells derived from cord blood (CBDC) and loaded with Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) peptides. Developed by the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology, this vaccine is designed for pediatric and young adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who have undergone cord blood allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). The vaccine aims to stimulate a WT1-specific T-cell response to target and eliminate residual leukemic cells that overexpress the WT1 protein, thereby reducing the risk of post-transplant relapse. This approach is unique in its use of cord blood as the source for dendritic cell generation, specifically tailored for patients receiving cord blood transplants.
