WT1 peptide is a synthetic cancer vaccine derived from the Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1) protein, which is overexpressed in a wide range of hematological malignancies and solid tumors. The vaccine consists of short or long peptides corresponding to immunogenic epitopes of the WT1 protein and is designed to induce a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against cancer cells expressing WT1. Clinical trials have demonstrated that vaccination with the WT1 peptide can elicit both CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses, leading to reductions in leukemic cells, M-protein levels in myeloma, and shrinkage of solid tumors. The therapy has shown promising safety and efficacy profiles across multiple cancers including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), pancreatic cancer, and rare cancers. It is typically administered intradermally with an adjuvant such as Montanide ISA51[2][3][5][6][8].
