WT1 peptide-specific dendritic cell vaccine is an autologous cellular immunotherapy developed by Zhujiang Hospital for the treatment of hematological malignancies. The therapy involves harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells and pulsing them with peptides derived from the Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) protein, a zinc-finger transcription factor that is highly overexpressed in various leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes. These antigen-loaded dendritic cells are then re-administered to the patient, where they function as professional antigen-presenting cells to prime and activate cytotoxic T-lymphocytes specifically against WT1-expressing malignant cells. In clinical settings, this vaccine is often investigated in combination with other therapies, such as Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, to enhance the anti-tumor immune response and improve clinical outcomes in patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
