WT1-W10 peptide is an investigational cancer vaccine developed by NEC Corporation, designed to target the Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) protein. WT1 is a transcription factor that is overexpressed in various hematological and solid tumors, including malignant gliomas, while having limited expression in normal tissues, making it an ideal target for immunotherapy. The vaccine consists of a specific peptide sequence (W10) that acts as an antigen to stimulate the patient's immune system, specifically inducing the production of WT1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). These CTLs are programmed to recognize and destroy tumor cells that present WT1 fragments on their surface via Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecules. WT1-W10 is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials in Japan for the treatment of newly diagnosed malignant glioma and glioblastoma, often in combination with standard therapies such as temozolomide and radiotherapy.
