WTX-607 is a first-in-class small molecule clinical candidate developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia. It is designed as a selective inhibitor of α-synuclein oligomer and aggregate formation, targeting the early nucleation events in the aggregation cascade that drive disease progression in synucleinopathies. Preclinical studies have shown that WTX-607 binds specifically to α-synuclein aggregates in human brain tissue and inhibits α-synuclein aggregation by up to 90% at low nanomolar concentrations. The compound has demonstrated disease-modifying potential by reducing pS129 α-synuclein aggregate levels in transgenic mouse models and has shown restoration of cognitive function in animals with established pathology. WTX-607 is orally administered and has shown favorable pharmacokinetic properties with a wide therapeutic margin[1][2][11].
