Overview

WU-CART is an allogeneic, off-the-shelf chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy platform developed by Wugen (also referred to as Waganuga). The platform utilizes healthy donor-derived T-cells that are genetically engineered to express CARs targeting specific antigens, most notably CD7, for the treatment of various hematologic malignancies and autoimmune diseases. By employing an allogeneic approach, WU-CART aims to provide a readily available treatment option that bypasses the complex manufacturing requirements of autologous CAR-T therapies. The platform incorporates genomic engineering to eliminate the expression of the T-cell receptor (TCR) to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and may include additional modifications to prevent CAR-T cell fratricide. The lead program under this platform, often designated as WU-CART-007, is currently in clinical development for T-cell malignancies, while other programs are in IND-enabling and preclinical stages for lymphoma, leukemia, and autoimmune conditions.
