Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wu Lin San is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily utilized for the treatment of urinary system disorders, including cystitis, urethritis, and gonorrhea (specifically for patterns described as heat strangury). In clinical settings, it is often administered as a concentrated extract product (CEP). The formula is composed of several herbal ingredients, typically including Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Fu Ling (Poria), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), and Bai Ju (likely Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), which exhibit bi-directional regulatory functions for body fluids and saliva. Pharmacological research has demonstrated that Wu Lin San can ameliorate bladder hyperactivity and inflammation by inhibiting neutrophil NADPH oxidase activity and reducing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). It is also being investigated for its efficacy in treating clozapine-induced hypersalivation in patients with schizophrenia.
