Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wuda granule is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation used primarily to promote gastrointestinal motility and recovery of gastrointestinal function, especially after abdominal or intestinal surgery. It is composed of five main herbal ingredients: Panax ginseng (Renshen), Fructus amomi (Sharen), Areca catechu L. (Binlang), Lindera aggregata Kosterm (Wuyao), and Prunus persica Batsch (Taoren)[6][10]. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of inflammation, protection of the intestinal barrier, reduction of oxidative stress, and promotion of gastrointestinal motility[1][2][3][8]. Pharmacological studies indicate that its effects are mediated through modulation of inflammatory pathways—particularly by reducing levels of cytokines such as IL-6 and CRP—and regulation via the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and Rap1 signaling pathway[8]. Clinical trials have shown that it can safely accelerate recovery after laparoscopic intestinal resection by shortening time to first bowel movement and improving other postoperative outcomes[9].
