wufuyin

Wufuyin is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula, originally documented in the Ming Dynasty medical text *Jingyue Quanshu*. It is composed of five primary botanical ingredients: Panax ginseng (Ren Shen), Rehmannia glutinosa (Shu Di Huang), Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui), Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu), and Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Zhi Gan Cao). Traditionally used to tonify the kidney, nourish the blood, and strengthen the spleen, Wufuyin has been investigated in modern clinical research for its potential therapeutic effects on discogenic back pain. Studies conducted by the Shaoxing Hospital of TCM have focused on its ability to modulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, as indicated by changes in serum β-catenin levels. This pathway is a critical regulator of intervertebral disc cell metabolism, and its modulation may help mitigate the degenerative processes associated with discogenic pain.
