Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wulao qisun fang I (also known as Wulao qisun formula I or Wulao qisun prescription I) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Derived from ancient medical texts, it is formulated to treat active ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by targeting specific TCM syndrome patterns, such as kidney deficiency and governor vessel cold (肾虚督寒). In clinical and preclinical evaluations, Wulao qisun formulations have demonstrated therapeutic potential by inhibiting the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of synovial fibroblasts, thereby potentially delaying pathological new bone formation in AS patients, a mechanism that may involve the regulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
