Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wulao qisun fang II (also known as Wulao qisun formula II) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is being evaluated for the treatment of active ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The formula is derived from ancient Chinese medical texts and is designed to address specific TCM syndrome patterns associated with AS, such as kidney deficiency and cold in the Du meridian. Mechanistically, Wulao qisun prescriptions have been shown to regulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, downregulating Wnt5a and β-catenin expression while upregulating Dickkopf-1 (DKK-1), which inhibits the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of AS synovial fibroblasts, thereby potentially delaying pathological new bone formation.
