Wulingshen is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) derived from the fermented powder of the fungus *Xylaria nigripes*. It is primarily utilized in China for the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, depression, and fatigue-related conditions. The drug is believed to exert its therapeutic effects by modulating the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) system, specifically by increasing GABA levels and enhancing the expression of GABA receptors in the brain. Additionally, it may regulate glutamate levels and possess neuroprotective and antioxidant properties. It is commonly formulated as Wuling Capsules and has been investigated for various neurological and psychiatric indications, including poststroke fatigue. The primary commercial developer and manufacturer is Zhejiang Jolly Pharmaceutical.
