wushe zhiyang wan

Wushe Zhiyang Wan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound formula used primarily for dermatological conditions. It is composed of multiple herbal ingredients including Zaocys dhumnades (乌梢蛇), Saposhnikovia divaricata (防风), Cnidium monnieri (蛇床子), Phellodendron chinense or amurense bark (黄柏/关黄柏), Atractylodes lancea or macrocephala rhizome (苍术), Panax ginseng rootlet (人参须/红参须), Moutan cortex (牡丹皮), snake bile powder (蛇胆汁), Sophora flavescens root (苦参), synthetic bezoar bovis/artificial calculus bovis (人工牛黄) and Angelica sinensis root (当归)[1][2][5]. The formula is designed to "nourish blood, dispel wind, dry dampness and relieve itching" according to TCM theory. Its main indications are chronic urticaria, pruritus due to wind-damp-heat accumulation in the skin, and other forms of persistent skin itching with symptoms such as red wheals that appear and disappear or dry itchy skin without primary lesions[2][7]. The mechanism of action is based on the combined effects of its herbal components; these may include anti-inflammatory, antihistaminic, immunomodulatory and antipruritic actions as described in TCM literature. It is administered orally.
