Wuwei Kushen

Wuwei Kushen is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Beijing Zhonghui Pharmaceutical for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. It is typically administered as enteric-coated capsules to ensure targeted delivery to the intestinal tract. The formulation is composed of five primary herbal ingredients: *Sophora flavescens* (Kushen), *Sanguisorba officinalis* (Di Yu), *Indigo naturalis* (Qing Dai), *Bletilla striata* (Bai Ji), and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Gan Cao). Its mechanism of action involves multi-target anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, including the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, IL-6, and IL-1 beta, as well as the regulation of the NF-kappaB signaling pathway. Additionally, it promotes the healing of the intestinal mucosa and helps restore the balance of intestinal flora.
