Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wuwei Xiaodu granules (also known as Wuwei Xiaodu Yin granules) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation derived from the classical Qing Dynasty formula "Wuwei Xiaodu Yin" (Five-Ingredient Decoction to Eliminate Toxin), first recorded in the "Yi Zong Jin Jian" (Golden Mirror of Medicine, 1742). It is composed of five heat-clearing and detoxifying herbs: Jin Yin Hua (*Lonicerae Flos*), Ye Ju Hua (*Chrysanthemi Indici Flos*), Pu Gong Ying (*Taraxaci Herba*), Zi Hua Di Ding (*Herba Violae*), and Tian Kui Zi (*Semiaquilegiae Radix*). The formulation is primarily indicated for clearing heat, resolving toxicity, cooling blood, and reducing swelling. It is widely used to treat acute inflammatory skin conditions such as boils, carbuncles, deep-rooted pustules, mastitis, and early-stage abscesses characterized by localized redness, swelling, heat, and pain. In July 2026, Reyoung Pharmaceutical's "Wuwei Xiaodu Yin granules" became the first classic-formula TCM product of its kind to be approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) under the Class 3.1 registration pathway for ancient classical formulas.
