Wuzhi Dripping Pills

Wuzhi Dripping Pills (五酯滴丸) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Nanchang Hongyi Pharmaceutical. It is an ethanol extract derived from the fruit of *Schisandra chinensis* (Wuweizi), standardized to contain a group of active lignans including schisandrin A, B, and C. The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis and the reduction of elevated serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels. Its therapeutic mechanism involves hepatoprotection through the stabilization of hepatocyte membranes, reduction of oxidative stress via activation of the Nrf2 pathway, and promotion of liver regeneration. Clinically, Wuzhi Dripping Pills are also widely recognized for their potent inhibitory effects on Cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A4/5) enzymes and P-glycoprotein, which is frequently utilized in clinical practice to manage the pharmacokinetics and increase the bioavailability of immunosuppressants such as tacrolimus and cyclosporine in transplant recipients.
