WXSH0024 is a small molecule inhibitor of the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.8 (SCN10A), currently under development by Shandong Danhong Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Buchang Pharma. It is being investigated for the treatment of neuropathic pain. Nav1.8 is a sodium channel subtype predominantly expressed in the peripheral sensory neurons of the dorsal root ganglia, where it plays a pivotal role in the generation and conduction of action potentials in nociceptive fibers. By selectively blocking Nav1.8, WXSH0024 aims to inhibit the transmission of pain signals at the peripheral level, potentially providing potent analgesia with a reduced risk of central nervous system or cardiovascular side effects typically associated with non-selective sodium channel blockers.
