Overview

WXWH0075 is an innovative small-molecule antibacterial agent developed by Zhuohe Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. It is specifically designed as an inhaled formulation for the treatment of pulmonary infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, such as *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, particularly in patients with underlying conditions like bronchiectasis. The drug functions as an inhibitor of LpxC (UDP-3-O-(R-3-hydroxymyristoyl)-N-acetylglucosamine deacetylase), a zinc-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthesis of Lipid A. Lipid A is an essential component of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) layer in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. By inhibiting LpxC, WXWH0075 disrupts the integrity of the bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial death. It is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in humans.
