WYH-023

WYH-023 is a small molecule phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor currently under clinical development by Xiangbei Wellman Pharmaceutical. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Like other drugs in its class, WYH-023 works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). By maintaining higher levels of cGMP, the drug facilitates smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum, enhancing penile erection, and in the prostate and bladder neck, alleviating urinary symptoms associated with BPH. The candidate has progressed into Phase 2 clinical trials in China, demonstrating its potential as a therapeutic option for male urological conditions.
