Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WYY026B is an investigational, Class 1 chemically synthesized small-molecule drug developed by Beijing Honghuixin Pharmaceutical Technology (a wholly owned subsidiary of Dezhan Healthcare) for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Chemically, WYY026B is a structurally modified honokiol derivative. It operates through a multimodal neuroprotective mechanism that includes enhancing cerebral oxygen utilization, exerting antioxidant effects, and suppressing neuroinflammatory cascades. Preclinical studies demonstrate that WYY026B interacts with red blood cells and binds to hemoglobin, enhancing its oxygen-carrying capacity to alleviate hypoxia-induced brain injury. Additionally, it has been shown to activate the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway, reducing oxidative stress and cerebral infarct size while improving neurological function scores. In late September 2026, the US FDA cleared its Investigational New Drug (IND) application for clinical studies in acute ischemic stroke, and China's NMPA (CDE) accepted its clinical trial application in October 2026.
