Overview

WZT-001 (also known as WZT1-001) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the CD19 antigen, developed by Wellington Zhaotai Therapies—a joint venture between the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research and Hunan Zhaotai Medical Group. The therapy is designed for the treatment of B-cell malignancies, specifically relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). WZT-001 is distinguished by its unique CAR construct which incorporates a Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) co-stimulatory domain alongside traditional signaling components. This inclusion of TLR2 is intended to enhance the metabolic fitness, proliferation, and persistence of the T-cells within the tumor microenvironment while potentially improving the safety profile regarding cytokine release syndrome. It is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in the Phase 1 ENABLE trial.
