X-22 is a tobacco-based (botanical) medical product consisting of very low nicotine (VLN) cigarettes. Developed by 22nd Century Group, Inc. and its subsidiary Hercules Pharmaceuticals LLC, it is designed as a prescription smoking cessation aid. Its therapeutic approach involves significantly reducing the nicotine content delivered to the user compared to conventional cigarettes, thereby aiming to decrease nicotine dependence.
