XB2001

XB2001 is a fully human monoclonal antibody of the immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) isotype that specifically targets and neutralizes interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α). Developed by XBiotech using its proprietary "True Human" antibody discovery platform, XB2001 is designed to inhibit the pro-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic, and pro-cachectic effects of IL-1α within the tumor microenvironment. By blocking IL-1α signaling, the drug aims to reduce tumor-mediated inflammation and metabolic dysfunction, potentially offering antineoplastic and anti-cachectic benefits. In clinical development, particularly in studies led by the Centre Georges Francois Leclerc, XB2001 is being evaluated in combination with standard-of-care therapies such as trifluridine/tipiracil (Lonsurf) and bevacizumab (Avastin) for the treatment of chemotherapy-resistant metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).
