Overview

XC2309 is a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) being developed by Zhejiang Medicine for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, primarily reflux esophagitis. Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that require activation by gastric acid and bind covalently to the H+/K+-ATPase, XC2309 inhibits the proton pump in a reversible and potassium-competitive manner. This mechanism allows for a rapid onset of action, sustained acid suppression, and improved control of nocturnal acid breakthrough. XC2309 is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China, where it is being evaluated for its efficacy and safety in patients with reflux esophagitis.
