Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xcellderma is an over-the-counter (OTC) liquid bandage and skin protectant developed by Regenerex Pharma, Inc. Classified as a medical device rather than a traditional pharmaceutical drug, it is used as a sterile wound dressing to manage chronic and acute wounds, including pressure ulcers (stages I-IV), stasis ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, skin irritations, cuts, and abrasions. The product contains the active ingredient QBx, which functions by down-regulating the production of proteases and matrix metalloproteases (MMPs). These protein enzymes are often overproduced in chronic wounds, where they degrade the extracellular matrix and stall the healing process. By modulating these enzymes, Xcellderma helps create an environment conducive to wound repair.
