Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XCSgel-IL12 is an investigational hydrogel-based drug delivery therapy designed to deliver interleukin-12 (IL-12) locally to tumors. IL-12 is a proinflammatory cytokine with potent immunostimulatory properties, capable of activating both innate and adaptive immune responses against cancer cells. The hydrogel formulation aims to provide sustained, localized release of IL-12 at the tumor site, enhancing anti-tumor immunity while minimizing systemic toxicity commonly associated with systemic IL-12 administration. The mechanism involves stimulating cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells within the tumor microenvironment, promoting interferon-gamma production, and reprogramming "cold" tumors into "hot," inflamed states that are more susceptible to immune-mediated destruction[4][5]. This approach is under investigation for use in solid tumors.
