Overview

Xeltetra-M is a topical pharmaceutical formulation developed and marketed by the Mexican dermatology company Farmapiel. Its active ingredient is minoxidil, typically at a 5% concentration, and it is primarily indicated for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness). Minoxidil is a vasodilator that, when applied topically, acts as an ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener. This mechanism leads to hyperpolarization of cell membranes and vasodilation of the scalp's microvasculature, which is believed to enhance blood flow to hair follicles. Additionally, minoxidil stimulates the transition of hair follicles from the telogen (resting) phase to the anagen (growth) phase and increases follicle size, thereby promoting hair regrowth and reducing thinning.
