Overview

"Xen" is a non-specific term used to refer to several distinct products, including medical devices and pharmaceutical drug candidates. As pharmaceutical drug candidates, "Xen" refers to XEN-D0501 and XEN-D0103. XEN-D0501 is a small molecule transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) antagonist investigated for Type 2 Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), erythromelalgia, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. XEN-D0103 is also a small molecule that functions as a selective Kv1.5 antagonist (IKur inhibitor) developed for atrial fibrillation. The term "Xen" is also used for medical devices such as the Xen Gel Stent (e.g., XEN45, XEN63), a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) device manufactured by Allergan (now part of AbbVie), and the Xen Matrix™ AB Surgical Graft, an antibacterial-coated porcine dermal matrix for hernia repair manufactured by BD.
