XEN401

XEN401 is a novel small molecule analgesic developed by Xenon Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of multiple pain disorders, including inflammatory, neuropathic, post-surgical, and muscular pain. It was designed as an orally bioavailable chemical entity with favorable pharmacological properties. In 2006, Xenon Pharmaceuticals entered into a significant licensing agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, granting Takeda exclusive rights to develop and commercialize oral formulations of XEN401 in Japan and several other Asian countries. At the time of the agreement, the drug was in preclinical development. However, there has been no recent clinical progress reported, and the program is considered discontinued.
