Overview

The xenogeneic polyantigenic vaccine (XPV) is a therapeutic cancer vaccine composed of antigens derived from cells of a different species (xenogeneic), typically murine melanoma B16 and carcinoma LLC cells. The primary mechanism involves breaking immune tolerance to human tumor-associated antigens by presenting highly immunogenic non-self antigens to the host immune system. This stimulates both innate and adaptive immunity, leading to increased T-cell responses against tumor cells and reduced regulatory T-cell activity in responders. Clinical studies have demonstrated safety, feasibility, and immunogenicity in advanced colorectal cancer patients, with evidence of improved survival compared to controls[1][3][9]. The vaccine is administered as a series of subcutaneous injections.
