Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**XF-70** is a synthetic porphyrin-based antimicrobial agent from Destiny Pharma's XF Drug Platform, exhibiting rapid bactericidal and fungicidal activity through membrane disruption, even against biofilms. Structurally related to XF-73, it demonstrates high potency against Gram-positive bacteria like *Staphylococcus aureus* (including MRSA) and fungi such as dermatophytes causing ringworm and *Candida albicans*, with 94.9% efficacy in an in vivo ringworm model and low MICs (0.25-2 µg/mL). It possesses a light-activated photodynamic therapy (PDT) mechanism releasing reactive oxygen species at 420 nm, though PDT did not significantly enhance antifungal effects in tested models; primarily developed for topical treatment of skin infections.[1][3][5][6]
