XFB-19 is a first-in-class synthetic tetra-peptide (Acetyl-Lys-D-Ala-D-Val-Asp-NH2) developed by Xfibra for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other fibrotic or inflammatory lung diseases. It acts as an inhibitor of the human CCAAT-enhancer binding protein beta (C/EBPβ), specifically targeting the Thr266 phosphorylation site, thereby interfering with myofibroblast activation—a key driver in lung fibrosis. Preclinical studies have demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects in models of chemical-induced lung injury, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and liver fibrosis. The drug is administered subcutaneously and is currently undergoing phase 1 clinical trials to assess safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers[3][5][8].
