Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XFB19 is a recombinant human Pentraxin-2 (rhPTX2) protein, also known as Serum Amyloid P component (SAP), being developed by Xfibra, Inc. It is designed to treat various fibrotic and inflammatory diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), liver cirrhosis, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). XFB19 acts as an endogenous regulator of the wound-healing process; it binds to Fc gamma receptors (FcγR) on monocytes, which inhibits their differentiation into pro-fibrotic fibrocytes and instead promotes their polarization into pro-resolving, anti-inflammatory macrophages. By modulating these immune pathways, XFB19 aims to arrest the progression of fibrosis and facilitate the resolution of existing tissue scarring and inflammation.
