Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XHANCE (OPN-375) is a drug-device combination product developed by Optinose for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps. It consists of the topical corticosteroid fluticasone propionate delivered via a proprietary Exhalation Delivery System (EDS). The EDS technology is breath-powered, using the patient's own exhaled breath to naturally close the soft palate and deliver the medication high and deep into the nasal cavity, specifically targeting the ostiomeatal complex and paranasal sinuses where inflammation is most prevalent. Fluticasone propionate acts as a potent agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor, exerting anti-inflammatory effects that reduce mucosal swelling and improve sinus drainage. It was the first drug-device combination to receive FDA approval for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps.
