XI Ning

XI Ning (also known as Sinemet or Carbidopa and Levodopa Sustained-release Tablets) is a pharmaceutical combination drug primarily used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and related parkinsonian syndromes. It consists of two active ingredients: levodopa and carbidopa. Levodopa is a metabolic precursor to dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is deficient in the brains of individuals with Parkinson's disease. Carbidopa is a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor that does not cross the blood-brain barrier. Its role is to prevent the peripheral breakdown of levodopa by dopa decarboxylase, thereby increasing the amount of levodopa that reaches the brain, where it can be converted into dopamine. This mechanism helps to alleviate the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as muscle stiffness, tremors, and bradykinesia (slow movement). XI Ning is often formulated as a sustained-release tablet to provide a more consistent therapeutic effect and reduce fluctuations in symptoms. It is considered a first-line treatment option for Parkinson's disease.
