Xiaflex + Aveed is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of Peyronie's disease in men with concomitant testosterone deficiency (hypogonadism). Xiaflex (collagenase clostridium histolyticum) is a microbial enzyme that works by selectively breaking down the collagen-rich plaques that cause penile curvature and deformity. Aveed (testosterone undecanoate) is a long-acting testosterone replacement therapy that acts as an androgen receptor agonist to restore physiological testosterone levels. The combination is based on clinical hypotheses suggesting that testosterone deficiency may contribute to the pathophysiology of Peyronie's disease and that restoring normal androgen levels may enhance the tissue's response to enzymatic collagenolysis, potentially improving the efficacy of Xiaflex in reducing penile curvature.
