Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xialiqi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Shijiazhuang Yiling Pharmaceutical for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It is a multi-herb capsule containing extracts from *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Forsythia suspensa* (Lianqiao), *Litchi chinensis* seed (Lizhihe), *Epimedium brevicornu* (Yinyanghuo), *Phellodendron amurense* (Huangbai), *Alisma plantago-aquatica* (Zexie), *Amber* (Hupo), and *Cinnamon* (Rougui). The drug is designed to alleviate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) by reducing prostate volume and improving urinary flow rates. Pharmacological studies suggest it works by inhibiting prostate cell proliferation, reducing inflammatory cytokine levels, and modulating growth factor signaling pathways such as TGF-beta1. It is approved in China for the management of BPH and has been evaluated in multicenter clinical trials against placebo and standard-of-care treatments.
