Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xianghu Dangxiong Xingdiao is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Wuhan Hengxinyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, specifically targeting the 'Qi stagnation and blood stasis' syndrome. The drug is a combination herbal product composed of four primary medicinal ingredients: **Xiangfu** (Cyperi Rhizoma), **Yanhusuo** (Corydalis Rhizoma), **Danggui** (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and **Chuanxiong** (Chuanxiong Rhizoma). Its mechanism of action is based on the TCM principles of 'moving Qi and activating blood' (行气活血) and 'regulating menstruation and relieving pain' (调经止痛). Pharmacologically, the formulation aims to alleviate uterine hypercontractility and ischemia by modulating prostaglandin levels (specifically reducing PGF2α and balancing PGE2) and inhibiting inflammatory mediators through the cyclooxygenase pathway. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China to assess its efficacy in reducing the intensity and duration of menstrual pain.
