Overview
Xianglian capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily composed of the extracts of *Coptis chinensis* (Huang Lian) and *Aucklandia lappa* (Mu Xiang). It is widely utilized in clinical practice for treating gastrointestinal conditions such as acute and chronic diarrhea, bacillary dysentery, and enteritis. The therapeutic effects are attributed to the high concentration of berberine in *Coptis*, which provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and modulates the intestinal microbiota, while *Aucklandia* contributes antispasmodic and analgesic properties. Recent clinical studies, such as those conducted by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University, have explored its efficacy in managing post-cholecystectomy diarrhea by regulating inflammatory cytokines and restoring gut flora balance.
