Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XiangShaLiuJunZi Decoction (XSLJZD) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula first composed in the 17th century. It is a multi-herb botanical formulation consisting of eight ingredients: Panax ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Dolomiaea costus, Wurfbainia villosa, Pinellia ternata, Citrus reticulata, and Glycyrrhiza glabra. The decoction is primarily used to treat gastrointestinal conditions such as functional dyspepsia, diabetic gastroparesis, chronic non-atrophic gastritis, and irritable bowel syndrome. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the regulation of gastrointestinal hormones (e.g., ghrelin, gastrin, somatostatin, substance P), modulation of the brain-gut axis, and restoration of mitochondrial quality control homeostasis in gastrointestinal smooth muscle cells. Additionally, it has been investigated as an adjunct to chemotherapy (e.g., combined with S-1) for advanced gastric and colorectal carcinomas to alleviate adverse reactions and improve patient quality of life.
