Xianxiong Chengqi Tang

Xianxiong Chengqi Tang (陷胸承气汤) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to clear heat, purge fire, resolve phlegm, and promote bowel movements. It is indicated for conditions characterized by phlegm-heat accumulation and obstructed bowel qi, presenting with symptoms such as fever, chest fullness and pain, delirium, abdominal distension, constipation, a yellow greasy tongue coating, and a deep, slippery pulse. The formula combines ingredients that address both chest-related phlegm-heat (similar to Xiao Xian Xiong Tang) and severe constipation with heat accumulation (similar to Da Cheng Qi Tang). Its therapeutic action is rooted in the principles of TCM, aiming to restore balance by expelling pathogenic factors and facilitating the smooth flow of qi and bodily fluids.
